Sliding blocks puzzle games

Kaskade is a sliding blocks puzzle game that involves sliding 2x2 sets of multicolored blocks down into a diamond shaped grid.

The blocks slide and rest in the bottom corner and you have to slide more blocks onto them to form a patch of four or more of the same color. Patches of solid color are removed from the game allowing the remaining blocks to fall down. Sounds simple enough but the crunch comes when falling blocks sometimes form new patches in a cascading chain reaction.

This leads to a frantic reappraisal of what needs to go where before the block fall into the wrong places and block up the diamond. If you run out of space to place any more blocks, you've basically lost the game. Kaskade is colourful and a lot of fun although whether it's worth paying to upgrade is another question. It doesn't really bring anything new to the block sliding genre despite being well done.

Kaskade will appeal to anyone who loves Tetris style sliding block games and wants to kill a bit of time.
